The California Sacramento River salmon fishing season is off to a good start, but first, let me tell you about Alaska.

I’ve just returned from 40 days of king salmon guiding at the remote fly-in Togiak River Lodge.

The fishing was great, and everyone had a blast!

We’re talking about limits of big, bright, hard-fighting kings that slammed plugs with gusto.

Togiak River Lodge is a great place for a real Alaska adventure, and is highly recommended. My Alaska guiding calendar is already booked for 2023, but reservations are available for the summer 2024 season. (Just give me a call at 1-800-995-5543.)

The Alaska trip also gave me a chance to battle-test the full line of ZZBrock salmon plugs, and they passed with flying colors!

I’ve sent plugs out to over 30 guides too, and feedback has been excellent. The plugs have proven to be extremely effective in Alaska, Washington, Oregon, and California rivers.

Salmon just can’t resist the proven colors and wiggling action. The plugs are available in several fish-catching color combos and sizes, including an extra-large version for those really big fish.

If you want to pick up a few for yourself, they are available in the online FKB store and at other retail outlets.

UPPER SACRAMENTO RIVER OPENS FOR SALMON ON AUGUST 1

Here in California, the upper Sacramento River above Red Bluff opens for salmon fishing on August 1. The lower river has been kicking out some good fish since the opener on July 16, and expectations are high for the upper river.

With the warm weather, fish have been shooting upstream and hanging out in the deeper holes. That includes the upper river’s world-famous Barge Hole, which kicks out a lot of really nice fish every year.

Since ocean catches have been quite good this year, we’re expecting a great run in the river this fall.

To catch some of these hard-fighting salmon, give me a call at 1-800-995-5543. We’ll get you set up with everything you’ll need, including fish processing at the end of the day.
