When it’s raining in the valley and the waters are all muddy, that’s when you’ll find me fishing in the fast-clearing Smith River. While other rivers can remain blown out for days or weeks, the Smith River clears up quickly. In little time, it’s back to prime steelhead fishing conditions.

And are we catching those big wild steelhead that the Smith River is famous for? Yes, we’re catching them every day!

These steelhead are ranging from 5 to 22 lbs (yes 22 lbs!). We’re getting single and double hookups, and it’s just been awesome fishing all around.

We had one memorable steelhead jump clear to eye level, then rip a bunch of line in a blistering run. These are fresh fish full of fight and energy, as fish with sea lice are coming in from the ocean daily. The big fish in the picture is 20 pounds plus, a real hog!

And the best part? We still have 3 solid weeks of fishing left!

There’s nothing comparable to the electric jolt of a big fresh steelhead on the end of the line, and there’s no better place than the mighty Smith River to catch one.

If you’re ready to test your steelhead fishing skills (or learn some new ones) on these mighty Smith River steelhead, give me a call right away while there is still some time!
