Shad Fishing

From Colusa to Red Bluff, shad fishing can produce some of our most action-packed fishing. 30 and 40 fish days are not uncommon, and sometimes there are 100+ fish days. The Central Valley shad run peaks around June each year, with large schools found in the Sacramento and Feather Rivers.

American shad were introduced to western waters in the 1800’s, but have a long history on the Atlantic coast.

Cost: All guided fishing trips are full day trips and cost $275 per person. This includes all rods, tackle, safety equipment, fish cleaning and a knowledgeable professional fishing guide.

What to bring:

  • Current California (CA) fishing license
  • 2nd rod stamp (optional)
  • Sunscreen
  • Camera
  • Sunglasses
  • Ice chest for your lunch, drinks and fish
